Frequently Asked Questions - Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort provides answers to frequently asked questions about dog boarding.

My dog has never boarded before, should I be nervous?
As a result of our special hands-on care, comfortable accommodations, dedicated and professionally-trained staff, the quality of our facility, and the amount of personalized activities we offer, dogs that stay with us typically adapt very well and enjoy a wonderful, fun experience. Please call us, or come by for a tour of our resort, we will be happy to answer any questions you have. Be sure to ask about our complimentary day visits, which can be especially beneficial for first time guests.

I have multiple dogs. Can they board together?
Absolutely! Accommodations are available for dogs from the same family to room together, with a discount of 25% for each additional dog sharing the same ranch room and 35% for each additional dog sharing the same luxury suite. We will feed each dog separately to eliminate the possibility of disagreement during meals. Please fill out the room-sharing agreement upon check-in.

Can my puppy stay at the resort?
We welcome puppies who have completed the full series of vaccinations, including the rabies vaccine, prior to their scheduled stay. Our puppy care overnight or day care boarding programs provide the essentials your puppy needs during this critical development stage. We will watch over your "little one" with extra TLC, special attention and nurturing activities designed to help ensure he or she grows into a confident adult dog. To ensure the utmost health and happiness of your puppy, participation in our puppy care overnight or day care boarding programs is required for overnight puppy guests up to age eight months.

What should I do to prepare for my dog’s check-in?
Please make arrangements to ensure that we have current vaccination records prior to arrival. You may contact your veterinarian and request that they email or fax your dog’s records to us, or we will contact your veterinarian for you. For faster check-in, email or fax applicable registration forms to us prior to arrival. You may also provide the forms to us when you check-in. Special diets, medications, or other requests should be communicated to us at check‑in and a scheduled check-out time should also be discussed. In addition, leisure activities and spa services can be scheduled when you make your reservation. Most importantly, do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions about the check-in process or our facility!

When can I drop off and pick up my dog?
Our arrival and departure process is designed for your convenience. Guests may arrive or depart any time during our business hours. Check-in or check-out outside of these hours is generally not available. If it is permitted, a $60 charge will be incurred. For check-in, guests should arrive at least one hour prior to closing. Similar to hotels for pet parents, check-in and check-out time is 12 noon. Pet parents that drop off their pets after 12 noon will not incur an early check-in fee and pet parents that pick up their pets by 12 noon will not be charged for that day. In addition, we provide an extended check-out until 3 p.m., with no additional charge, for pets that are scheduled for complete grooming services in our luxury day spa on the day of check-out.

How do I make reservations?
For reservations at Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort, please contact us by telephone or email. We will be happy to discuss all of the accommodations, leisure activities, spa and grooming, day camp and training services we offer! All reservations for new clients must be confirmed by telephone or in person and reservations for new clients will be made only after we have received copies of current vaccination records. Holiday and peak period reservations should be made well in advance.

What is your cancellation policy for reservations?
We require a two-night deposit for reservations during weekends, holidays and peak seasons. The deposit amount will be forfeited for no-shows, late cancellations, or late reservation changes that reduce the number of nights reserved. For holiday and peak season reservations, a deposit refund (less $10 service fee) or account credit will be provided for cancellations or reservation changes made within seven days of the arrival date. For non-peak seasons, a deposit refund (less $10 service fee) or account credit will be provided for cancellations or reservation changes made within three days of the arrival date. Alternate cancellation policies may be communicated and applicable in certain circumstances.

Can I come in for a tour?
You are welcome to come visit us for a tour of Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday through Friday (excluding holidays). We are not available for tours on Saturday. If you would like to bring your pet with you for the tour, please call us first so that we can verify vaccinations prior to your pet visiting our facility.

My dog does not eat Pro Plan food at home, will this cause any issues?
Most dogs do well on our food, but if your dog requires a special diet, you should make arrangements to bring in their own food from home. We serve a special blend of food that is generally easy on the stomach and digestive system and we typically do not see issues in feeding it to our guests.

Can I bring my dog’s crate from home for use while he or she is staying with you?
We do everything in our power to make sure our guests are as content and comfortable as possible. All of our guest rooms include veterinarian-recommended Kuranda beds, with thick, double-sided fleece or foam pads. All bedding is freshly laundered daily. If you are crate-training your puppy, we have crates available to put in your little one’s room so that crate training may continue during his or her stay with us.

Can I bring my dog’s favorite toys and bedding from home for use while he or she is an overnight guest?
We understand that dogs may enjoy the comfort of familiar items during their time away from home. We ask for your cooperation in limiting the amount of belongings you send with your dog to two favorite items (toys, blankets) which are labeled with your dog’s name and can be laundered and/or sanitized daily using our in-house, commercial-grade equipment. Please be aware these articles may be lost or damaged due to our daily sanitation procedures.

What happens when a dog in your care needs veterinary care?
If your dog should require medical attention while in our care, our customary procedure is to contact you or your emergency contact to discuss the best course of action. Should the nature of your dog's illness require an office visit, we reserve the right to utilize a veterinarian of our choice. Any costs arising from medical care that we pay on your dog’s behalf will be billed to you at check-out.

Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort Ranch Room guests enjoy soothing music, full spectrum lighting, windows in every room, live plants and orthopedic Kuranda beds.

Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort Luxury Suite Guests enjoy plush Kuranda beds, chandeliers, flat screen color televisions and web cams for remote viewing over the Internet.
